Jennifer Aniston and Acupuncture
This week I’m going to write on an acupuncture topic – There is a slight twist – it involves a celebrity – Jennifer Aniston.
She was in the news because of cupping marks left on her back.
I use cupping in my practice.
I generally use cold cupping and slide cupping.
The cups are used to rid the body of toxins and can be used without, over and with, needles.
Slide cupping is brilliant for loosening tight muscles – it’s amazing how a simple action of running a suctioned cup over an area can loosen it out. Ten minutes of cupping can do the work of many hours of massage.
Watch your back, Jennifer Aniston.
The Wanderulst star, 44, made quite the fashion statement at Monday’s premiere of Call Me Crazy, a Lifetime film about mental illness.
Wearing a simple black romper with her hair tied back in a ponytail, the actress revealed a pattern of circular marks on her back – probably the result of cupping, a Chinese form of alternative medicine designed to promote circulation.
Cupping generally uses small glass bulbs that are heated and then placed on the skin, creating suction, often leaving red marks for a several days after treatment. Other famous fans of the treatment include Gwyneth Paltrow – remember when her’s were the talk of the carpet?
But even concealer couldn’t hide the marks left from cupping across Aniston’s back.
Call Me Crazy is composed of five short films about mental illness and boasts an all-star cast, including Jennifer Hudson, Melissa Leo, Octavia Spencer, Sarah Hyland and Melanie Griffith.
